Well, here we go folks! This is the first entry in what promises to be an interesting Odyssey. Be warned, I have never attempted anything of this nature before. Hopefully I will learn quickly as I go. I have to say tho' that I am very un-savy where computers are concerned, so I would think that comparatively speaking, this will not be a 'hi-tech' site, but rather something quirky to read.
First things first I guess - I am Stephanie, born and bred in Western Australia smack bang in the middle of the last century (sounds impressive doesn't it). I am the product of a long line of pioneers - my folk have been here for about as long as it is possible without being indigenous. I am mother to two wonderful men and grandmother to 4 wonderful children. My mother is still alive and I am 'living in sin' with my teenage sweetheart - sounds a lot juicier than it really is, trust me! I have never travelled overseas, but have lived an interesting life or two or three in the almost 60 years I have occupied this body.
My partner in crime is The Best Bloke in the World and will be known hereafter as TBBITW or from time to time TBPITBITW (the biggest pain in the bum in the world) depending on hormones (his not mine!), stage of the moon, degree of health, alcohol content (once again his not mine) etc, etc. I'm sure all the women out there get the picture.
Anyway, the reason for this venture into blogging is that we, like so many of our generation are about to cast ourselves into the stream of grey flotsam streaming around this glorious country of ours. This adventure has been at least three years in the planning and dreaming stage and is now about to reach fruition. I know that many before me have written in very clinical and professional terms about the very same thing, and I confess, I have read none of them!!! I am sure that there are some wonderful stories on this subject, but nonetheless, I thought I would add mine to the collection. Hopefully this will be an honest, earthy and very human depiction of two geriatric gypsies and their endeavours. We are not actually due to 'take off' until 2nd Jan next year, however, the adventure as such has already begun. We have sold the house (settlement pending) and are awaiting the arrival of 'THE VAN'.
As this is a super hectic time of packing and preparation I anticipate not having a great deal of time over the next couple of weeks to add to this blog, but will endeavour to come back from time to time to fill you in on our progress.
